Details

Although unlabelled, these French violins made for Hills are easily recognised and represent some of the best Mirecourt output of the period.

Typically well finished clean work denotes this instrument which displays a fine flamed maple back and sides and even, straight grained spruce top, all covered in a warm shaded varnish laid over a golden ground.

It has a warm resonant tone with clear well defined articulation and a beautiful quality of sound, very appropriate for delicate ‘piano’ passages.

Good bow response in higher positions, a nice sound for double stoppings and great playability round it out.
