Details

A beautifully crafted violin in baroque period form by the husband and wife violin making team “Beardsmore and Coggins” of Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

The Amatese model is highlighted by very precisely laid in decorative purfling on the back plate and a shaded varnish with a light faux antique patina.

The violin has a lovely warm sound, rich resonance with light bowing and nice clarity of articulation; it responds easily to dynamics contrasts. Good projection and volume, good playability and a wide palette of sound colours to explore make this a terrific violin for period performance.
