Details

Hermann Dolling jnr. ran one of the most successful workshops in Markneukirchen at the turn of the 20th century employing many of the best workmen in the town.

This handsome violin, labelled 'Franzosische Violine' (or French model violin) has a striking two piece back of beautifully flamed maple and a warm amber varnish. It is very playable and has a big sound across the whole range; it is rich and bright with full overtones, evenly balanced across the strings with good articulation and a very immediate bow response.
