Details

Dolmetsch was born in Le Mans, France and studied violin in Brussels and at The Royal College of Music, London.

He became fascinated by historical performance which instigated his involvement with the production of early music instruments. Not a maker himself, he employed a talented group of artisans to run the workshop.

Very comfortable in the hand, this bow has excellent stability on the strings and is easy to control. The fine pernambuco stick allows the player to ‘lean’ into the strings and to explore a wide range of colours and dynamics. It is great for sharp attacks and precise articulation of spiccato and sautillé.

The beautifully elegant frog and adjuster are of ivory. Players should be aware that this material requires a permit for international travel.
