Details

Auguste Deroux worked for Silvestre amongst others before setting up his own workshop in Paris around the mid 1880s.

The two piece back plate of medium flamed maple exhibits an interesting wear pattern in the rich red-brown varnish; the top plate is of two pieces of straight grained spruce of very closely spaced reed lines at the centre growing wider towards the flanks.

It has a beautiful dark voice with powerful, evenly balanced tone through the range. A very pleasant sound under the player’s ear and easy, comfortable playability make this a real ‘dream’ violin.
