Amongst other musical interests, Dick was a keen violin maker. This violin has a warm brown varnish covering a nicely flamed maple back and ‘Bear Claw’ figured spruce top plate.

It responds easily to the bow with a ringing, bright resonance which can be perceived throughout its range. It’s evenly balanced across the strings and has the power to produce a lot of volume if required.

The neck is comfortable to hold, which makes for easy slides and shifts for the left hand, also terrific for left hand pizzicato.
