France c.1900

A French bow from the turn of the last century (c. 1900) is by the renowned firm Jerome Thibouville-Lamy. This company employed a large number of artisans and produced a wide range of both instruments and bows. They used a number of different trade names and stamps, the best known being the initials J.T.L.

Like many firms of the time, in addition to their own production, they bought in bows from some of the leading craftsmen to supplement their top end range.

Stamped with the J.T.L. stamp, this bow is attributed to the highly respected Cuniot Hury workshop.
