Heinz Dölling

Germany

Born in 1913, Heinz Dölling learned his craft by his fathers (Otto Dölling) side.

Common in such family workshops at this time, Heinz remained there until 1965, despite attaining his Masters Certificate in 1947. He then moved to nearby Erlbach to set up his own shop.

Despite the difficulties in trading independently as a result of the restrictive nature of the political system within the G.D.R., Dölling nevertheless used his business acumen to selectively show his work to a wider audience and, over time, established an international reputation.

This octagonal pernambuco stick is mounted with chased silver and weighs 72 gm.
